Surge in Vodafone’s mobile data and SMS traffic following Leaving Cert results

Here’s a nice story today, the announcement of the 2012 Leaving Certificate results yesterday sparked a massive 37% increase in Vodafone’s 3G data use and a 63% surge in SMS traffic as students and their families took to their mobile phones to share their news.

The activity across the network yesterday is in line with current trends as the number of customers using smart phones has increased by 56% year-on-year.  Furthermore, over 50% of all Vodafone Ireland customers now use internet on their mobile devices which include phones, tablets and notebooks.

Vodafone’s voice traffic also increased by almost 20% as students shared their Leaving Certificate results with friends and family.
