Netflix to launch in Ireland!!!

You read that heading right!! Netflix has gone official and put a press release out stating they will be launching in Ireland (and the UK) in early 2012!

This is great news! I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. If it had been a couple of years ago, right now I’d be saying – “oh, no, the birck and mortar stores better watch out”.. but honestly, this couldn’t have come at a better time! Personally, I don’t know where there’s a video rental store left in my area! I’m not talking out in some small village or anything, I live smack bag in the heart of Dublin and all the old video stores round the area have closed in the last 18+ months. There’s not Chartbusters, Xtravision’s or Lazer rental places left!! So having Netflix come into the country is a god send!

While the press release goes on to say it will make official the devices which you can stream the movies / TV Shows through nearer launch, in the US, pretty much anything with a net connection is supported… that is: Xbox, PS3, Wii, Apple TV, TV’s, Media Drives, PC, MAC, Phones, iPad, etc… Pricing and what studios / content will be available is still TBD, but this is a great first step! Personally, I’ll have no problem paying a subscription to access movies on demand! :-D

Here’s the official press release:
