BBC Want iPlayer On Xbox 360 For Free

The BBC has finally provided a reason as to why their popular online TV service iPlayer isn’t available on the Xbox 360.

The BBC’s Daniel Danker told TechRadar; “We want to be on as many devices as possible. Of course we’d love to be on the Xbox because we want to get the iPlayer to as many licence payers as possible, which is pretty much everyone in the UK.”

“We want to be on the cheapest level that you can have on Xbox, and not only for [Xbox Live] Gold subscribers.”

The iPlayer is currently available on the PS3 & Wii, with around seven and three million users respectively. The BBC is also launching their brand new HTML5 iPlayer which has been designed from scratch for TV’s soon, exclusively on the PS3.

It looks like Microsoft may have to change their stance and allow the iPlayer to be used by non-Gold members; their Sky Player will soon look dated against the brand new BBC iPlayer.
