Aertv Scores Mobile Hat Trick – 30% expected to watch the Euros on their smartphone, tablet or laptop
For the first time ever people in Ireland will be able to watch the Euro Championships live on their mobile phone. Thanks to Ireland’s free online TV service, Aertv, all the Irish matches will be available to view on any device with an internet connection, and not just a television.
Based on a surge in viewers during past popular sporting events the company anticipates that almost 1 in 3 people in Ireland will use their mobile devices- smartphones, tablets and laptops- to view the games live at some point during the Championships.
Philippe Brodeur, Director of Aertv, says: “Our analysis of visitors shows that the Aertv service has become a great way to resolve screen conflicts with family and friends. One case in point was last month’s recent Champions League Final where the service showed a spike in visitors with many viewing the game on their tablet or smartphone.”
For watching live events the most popular device is the iPhone, which claims 38% of all mobile traffic, followed by the iPad which has a share of 35%.
Brodeur continues: “A recent addition to the service means that the matches will all be available to watch in HD, making the viewing experience great for everyone who wants to watch the Euros live.”
The unsung heroes…
As well as enthusiastic fans the service will cater for shift workers, doctors and nurses and taxi drivers- those who cannot pause to slump in front of the TV and may be relying on their work PCs or mobiles to keep up with the action.
The first Ireland game is against Croatia and kicks off on Sunday 10th June at 20.45. Visit aertv.ie to see Ireland kick off their campaign for European glory.
