TechTV101 talks re-makes, shooters, guns and steampunk with Syndicate Producer Jeff Gamon
Last week, TechTV101 jetted over to this year’s EA Winter Showcase, where we got to check-out all the up-and-coming games from Electronic Arts. At the event we caught up with Jeff Gamon, Executive Producer of the upcoming remake of Syndicate.
Check out the interview below, where we discuss how he put the hard-core Syndicate fans minds-at-ease, the state of the current FPS games market, how he researched the steampunk background of the game, his favourite part of the game and why you simple “have-to” buy Syndicate.
In other Syndicate news, Jeff Gamon has also come out recently and said just because the remake is being made, doesn’t mean we won’t see a Syndicate game more in keeping with its original roots.
“The original was such a classic. There is scope to remake it,” Jeff Gamon told Eurogamer.
“But I don’t think it necessarily has to be exactly the same genre. If we did there are probably other platforms which are more suitable for it than the consoles we’re making it for, if we wanted to go in that more strategic route, that perspective.
“I would love to see Syndicate as a true franchise again, bringing it back and expanding it out onto whatever platforms it’s suitable for.”
Ok while I am a huge Original Syndicate fan, I’ve tried the new game and have to tell you 2 things…..
Firstly, it’s amaze-balls. My god the graphics are smooth and the single player campaign plays a like a dream.
Secondly, and don;t hate me for saying this but I think every classic game should be open for a re-imagining. Why? Well, if this didn’t happen the industry wouldn’t evolve. Case and point: First Person Shooters of the early 90′s, need i say anymore.
