Basketball, Mutants and Call of Duty – Weekly Games Update
Yet another quiet week for gaming news and info with only two big releases: RAGE and NBA 2K12 and a brand new trailer for this year’s Call of Duty installment: Modern Warfare 3.
NBA 2K12 is the latest in 2K Sport’s annual basketball instalments and is gathering up some really high review scores over on Metacritic. If you’re a basketball fan, needless to say you cannot miss this game. NBA 2K12 is out now on Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 and here’s its’ launch trailer.
Probably the most well-known release of the two big releases this week is RAGE, the latest game from id Software – the guys behind Doom and Quake. With that calibre of First Person Shooter, one would expect a seriously good time with RAGE and so far the reviews all say that is the case.
RAGE is set in the not too distant future when the asteroid 99942 Apophis (Which is a real asteroid mind you) strikes the Earth on August 23, 2029 and the surviving humans have to fend for themselves on a post-apocalyptic planet and try to rebuild civilization.
It looks very Borderlands/Fallout: New Vegas-esque although it’s interesting to note that RAGE was first designed and conceived long before either game had even begun development.
RAGE features dune buggy racing and horrible, hostile mutants too, which adds to the Mad Max feel of the world.
It’s out now on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 showed us some new footage of its’ single player, Michael Bay inspired action this week. The trailer shows us a lot of explosions and dramatic set pieces that are common place in a Call of Duty campaign by now.
Modern Warfare 3 releases November 8th and you can expect it to smash records and make billions of dollars, just like its’ predecessors.
