Return to the Wild West or Fight Zombies? Let Our Weekly Gaming Update Help You Decide
Another week jam packed with gaming news and this week was as busy as the last– Here’s your latest games update.
Technically this is next week’s news but this game is too big to ignore. Of course we’re talking about Gears of War 3 which launches this coming Tuesday the 20th. We’ve previously mentioned that this is the most pre-ordered Xbox 360 game of all time and if the early reviews are anything to go by, expect something special.
We’ll be on hand at the official launch on Monday and will be bringing you coverage and our review soon.
This week saw the release of another amazing new trailer for EA’s Battlefield 3 and this time we were shown the first Xbox 360 footage, so far we’ve only seen PS3 and PC footage – The Epic 64 Player PC multiplayer trailer springs to mind.
The trailer shows more from the ‘Operation Guillotine’ mission and while it doesn’t give away much on the mission itself, it does prove that the almost six year old hardware of the Xbox 360 can run this beast pretty well.
We think it’s fair to say Battlefield will be the best looking game on the 360 come October 28th.
Rockstar games gave us a look at its upcoming shooter Max Payne 3 during the week as promised.
This time around Max is in Sao Paulo, Brazil working as some kind of bodyguard for seemingly corrupt people.
As expected things don’t go so smoothly and bullets start to fly but we can’t help but think it’s looking a bit too actioney coming from Rockstar.
Considering their last three games were very story driven affairs, a troubled immigrant in GTA IV, a reformed bandit in Red Dead Redemption and a flawed but well-meaning detective in LA Noire.
With that recent record a somewhat straightforward action game may not reach the high standard we’ve come to expect from Rockstar.
We’ll have to wait until March 2012 to pass proper judgement.
The trailer does feel very Max Payne though which is great for series’ fans. Max’s signature bullet-time move and his inner monologue look set to feature heavily in the game as expected
Speaking of Red Dead Redemption and Rockstar, in a move that’s becoming increasingly rare lately, Rockstar dished out some free DLC this week – yes free!
Myths & Mavericks Bonus Pack is Rockstars’ way of saying thank you to the RDR fans, which there are a lot of. It’s quite impressive to still see such an online following for a game well over a year old.
There’s enough content in here to warrant a price which makes it all the sweeter, although there are no new achievements/trophies which we suspect is partially why it’s free.
Still you can’t go wrong for nothing!
Myths & Mavericks Bonus Pack is available to download now on Xbox 360 and PS3 and includes 10 new multiplayer maps and 8 new characters including Uncle and legendary ol’ Landon Ricketts.
The full press release along with download links can be found here.
The recent DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops – Rezurrection which was released for Xbox 360 a few weeks ago is slowly but surely making its way to PC & PS3.
If you’ve been cursing 360 owners while you sit aside waiting to murder (Re-murder?) zombies, most notably on the moon! – well you won’t have long to wait as Rezurrection is available to download on PS3 & PC Thursday September 22nd.
Treyarch even made a brand new trailer to showcase the second release of Rezurrection and lets just say it’s not for those with weak stomachs.
Zombie vomit? Ew.
