Self-Healing iPhone Case From Nissan!

It’s kind of strange to see a automotive company making iPhones cases but as you may have guessed from the title of this piece, this isn’t your ordinary iPhone case. This case, called the ‘Nissan Scratch Shield’ uses a special paint developed by Nissan and one they have been using on their cars since 2005.

Nissan explains:

The outer ‘paint’ is made from polyrotaxane, which means that when damage occurs to the coating in the form of a fine scratch, the chemical structure is able to react to change back to its original shape and fill the gap – ‘healing’ the blemish.

The company has sent out a few prototype models of the case to consumers and journalists and may have it rolling off the production line as soon as the next few months. Shame it doesn’t stop your screen from cracking!

Love it! But not a fan of the big dirty Nissan logo on the side of it. Does it have to be black or can it come in other colours/clear?

Very little info on this case to be honest, that actually image may just be a mock up, no clarification whether it’s the actually one or not. Still a pretty cool concept though!
