Customers fight crime with a Mobile Superhero on Three!

I’m a big fan of protecting your gadgets and as well as having all your content backed up (you all have your content, contacts, calendar, photos, etc… all backed up, right??), having some sort of theft insurance is next on my list. I’ve had 2 phones stolen in my life time. Both times it was out of my hand while I was talking on it! It’s a scary experience! The first time, I hadn’t a clue about backing up my phones contents and was more miffed that I’d lost all my contacts / photos etc… the second time, I had learned, so I had everything I needed to get going again. YouGetItBack and Pier team up with Three to help protect and locate lost or stolen mobiles with new insurance app.

Dublin: Thursday, 7^th March. Three, Ireland’s largest high speed network, today launches its exclusive mobile crime fighter, helping its customers to protect and locate lost or stolen mobiles and upgrading its insurance offering, provided by Pier Insurance Managed Services (Pier), a leading provider of mobile and gadget insurance. Partnering with Irish company YouGetItBack, Pier now offers all Three customers YouGetItBack’s revolutionary smartphone app’s at no additional cost if they purchase any of its new mobile insurance products.

With the Mobile Superhero^TM brand supporting Irish Blackberry/Android mobiles and Mobile Protect and Recover^TM brand supporting iPhones, Three customers receive a unique capability to recover a device if stolen or mislaid.  Mobile Superhero locks, locates and recovers the missing device ensuring the data is protected and safe from prying eyes.

The remotely-activated and automatic-locking service immediately disables the mobile when triggered via a text from another phone or via the customer’s personal web based vault. Once locked, the device “screams” an alert, even if the phone is on silent, not only deterring thieves but also enabling its quick location if misplaced nearby. The only active screen on the locked device will be a message encouraging either its return to the rightful owner, to enter your pin or to call a representative of YouGetItBack.

A snapshot of the person using the phone at the time the alarm is triggered is taken to further deter any un-authorised usage and encourage the return of the mobile to its owner.  The snapshot will automatically upload to the customer’s personal web-based vault.

Mobile Superhero^TM will also locate the device via GPS and send a map of its position to confirm if it has been stolen or simply lost. The administrator can also location track with the users permission. The phone will also lock if the SIM card is taken out or exchanged, with all contact data backed up via the personal web based vault.
