At first glance there is very little diffrence between the canon G10 and G11 that is untill you get you hands on it.
I personaly am a big fan of the g9 and was not much impressed with the g10 so it did not apeal to me for the extra cash. i did not chose G10 over G9 but now i am felling a little peckish with the Powershot G11. The G11 is a little chunkyer then the G10 but there is a reasion for this. The flip screen on the back of the G11 which is not new in canon products as various other powershots had this but to see this in the G11 i was a little impressed.
I took a lone of the g11 only for a few hours to just experament a little now there is no huge diffrence betwen the G10 and G11 apart from flip screen and the G11 is 10.0 million pixels compaired to the G10 which is 14.7 million pixels. This did not bother me this actualy atracted me to the G11 i don’t chase pixels which a lot of people do I personaly did not like the G10 because it was 14.7mpx. The use of a 14 over a 10mpx camera there is very little to be personaly honist unless i plan on doing a billboard photo which the 10 would do with no problem. The main reasion i chose the G11 over the G10 is I’m gadget mad and the flip screen was a big turning point the exsample is if im in a big croud at a Gig or somwhere i am not able to take the SLR or whant to take a shot down low with out going on my knees the flip screen was a very big benifit for me.
Price wise the powershot G11 is as you would expect it to be in the 500-650 mark depending where you go in the long run the G11 is indeed a good second camera if you have a DSLR and dont want to carry the extra baggage the G11 has the perefect lens up to 5x zoom 28mm-140mm same as G10 which is grand and of corse not forgetting the RAW file formant for all you editing freeks.
The Canon menu has not changed and this is a good thing its so easy to acess all your options and you manual modes like all Good powershots the G11 is a gold star in my Book and I love to experiment with the ISOÂ which is all easlys acsssed on the G11.
